Alumni -- Where are they now?
Mary Duplantier is now studying at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, pursuing a Bachelor of Music under the direction of Ann Yeung.
Elise was a member of the Blakeslee Harp Studio from age 8 to 18. She writes, "I am a 3rd year undergraduate at NEC studying with Jessica Zhou. I play in the major ensembles there, usually under the direction of Hugh Wolff. I have played a lot of contemporary music, including symposiums of Unsuk Chin and Harrison Birtwhistle's works. I was a finalist in the NEC Concerto Competition my freshman year, and now I am working on new competition repertoire! I attended National Orchestral Institute and MusicAlp in Tignes, France last summer."
Anna was a member of the Blakeslee Harp Studio from age 7 to 18. She writes, "Since graduating from Elizabeth Blakeslee's studio, I went on to pursue my Bachelor of Music in Harp Performance from the University of Toronto where I studied with Judy Loman. I then received my Artist Diploma from the Curtis Institute of Music with Elizabeth Hainen. I've attended the Aspen Music Festival and School, the National Orchestral Institute, the Conservatoire d'Éte de Nice, and the Siena Music Festival in Italy. I spent one year working in Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, where I performed harp for cancer patients. I am currently pursuing my Master's in Harp Performance from the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, studying with Gillian Benet-Sella."
Grace was a member of the Blakeslee Harp Studio during her middle and high school years. She writes, "Since I graduated from high school, I attended the Eastman School of Music for two years, received my BM from the University of Michigan, and then graduated with my MM from the Juilliard School in 2011. Since then, I performed with the New World Symphony for three years until I won the Principal Harp position with the Dallas Opera. In 2015, I won the Santa Fe Opera position where I now perform in the summers. Besides playing lots of great opera music, I have also been privileged to perform frequently with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Houston Symphony, and the Philadelphia Orchestra starting this season. This summer, I received my Suzuki teacher training with Suzuki Teacher Trainer Phala Tracy in Minneapolis, and I now teach 10 wonderful students at the Suzuki Music Institute of Dallas."
Alisa was a member of the Blakeslee Harp Studio during her high school years. She has served as Principal Harpist with the Arkansas Symphony since 2011 and has established an active performing and teaching career in Little Rock. She currently teaches at University of Arkansas and Hendrix College. Orchestrally, she performs regularly with the ensembles such as Artosphere Festival and IRIS Orchestra, and has previously performed with Symphony in C and the Philadelphia Orchestra. Alisa graduated with a Master's of Music from Temple University. She received her Bachelor's of Music and Performance Diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, ON.
